Game Overview
Inspired by the popular internet “creepypasta” The Backrooms, The Backrooms: Survival is a horror game with roguelike elements. Players find themselves in seemingly never-ending narrow and tight corridors known as the backrooms, where they will need to explore carefully in an attempt to find a way out. You will need to try and remain sane while seeking out food and drink, and avoiding any possible hostilities lurking around the corners. Features:
- Randomly generated levels – The Backrooms are randomly generated each new playthrough to ensure a fresh experience each time and no memorizing the layouts. Different themes/level types with many different types of entities and items. Different layouts and multiple Backroom theme types.
- Survival Elements – You will need to scavenge the backrooms for any food and water you can find to survive, including drinking from leaks in the ceiling and cannibalizing the already dead, while trying to maintain your sanity
- Permadeath – Death in The Backrooms, just like in our reality, is permanent. With only one quicksave save slot that auto-deletes upon death, you better be careful because in The Backrooms death could lie around any corner.
- Choose your player – Before you enter The Backrooms, you’ll have to either pick a random player or create your own, choosing your name, avatar, etc as well as choose from a list of real-world professions which each offer unique bonuses
- Retro style graphics – Graphic art style inspired by gaming consoles in the 1990s
- Inventory Management – You’ll find all kinds of things down in The Backrooms… from edible substances to useful tools to not so useful junk. You’ll have to manage your few inventory slots and prioritize what you think you may need the most
- Leaderboards – global leaderboard to see who can make it to the highest, deepest levels of The Backrooms…
- Obirtruary System – All your unsuccessful attempts to escape the Backrooms which result in death will be recorded in game via the “Obirtruary System”. Similar to a leaderboard/high score system, this records information that run through The Backrooms such as your player’s name, age, profession, death cause, etc
Installation Instructions
- Click the green button below to be redirected to UploadHaven.com.
- Wait 15 seconds, then click on the “free download” button. Allow the file transfer to complete (note that speeds may be slower with the free plan; upgrading to UploadHaven Pro will increase speeds).
- Once the transfer is complete, right-click the .zip file and select “Extract to The Backrooms: Survival” (To do this you must have 7-Zip, which you can get here).
- Open the folder that you just extracted and run the game as administrator.
- Enjoy the game! If you encounter any missing DLL errors, check the Redist or _CommonRedist folder and install all necessary programs.

- Check for missing DLL files: Navigate to the
_Redistor_CommonRedistfolder in the game directory and install DirectX, Vcredist, and other dependencies. - Use 7-Zip to extract files: If you receive a “file corrupted” error, re-download and extract again.
- Run as Administrator: Right-click the game’s executable file and select “Run as Administrator” to avoid save issues.
